It's a quickie about breathing.

I have a jam packed day, so I am just putting a few thoughts down for you all. I have 2 rehearsals today, need to gym, pay overdue bills, etc. It's a busy Tuesday.

Amidst it all - I'm breathing. In and out. It's strange, but I've realized that there is a current of peace available at all times - even the most stressful!!! It literally exists in the rhythm of your breath. Even if you stop for just 2 seconds and focus on your breathing - things seem better. What a delight! I think it's a blessing to be a singer and be forced to focus on my breathing so much - without breath, I suck. When I trust it and let the breath through - the effect is amazing. When I hold on to it and try to manipulate it with my body, throat, tongue, etc. - it gets choked and weak. Learning to trust the source of life - BREATH - is a beautiful thing, for singers and anyone!

Ok, I'm outtie. Here is your song and quote for the day.

"By Way of Sorrow" - Cry, Cry, Cry (It's in my head cuz I'm learning it for my friend Katie's wedding!)

"I took a deep breath and listened to the old bray of my heart: I am, I am, I am." ~Sylvia Plath

  1. OK here is my first attempt at a comment.
    I think you are adorable!
    Love, Mom

  2. And breathing is the mechanism which enables us to SING beautiful songs, and bring lyrics to the ears of thoughtful listeners...
